RELIABLE AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES

If you have questions for our mechanics, then you have come to the right place. Here are some questions we’re asked most often, but if you have additional questions or want to schedule an appointment, get in touch with us by phone or message and we will be happy to serve you.

  • WHY ARE MY BRAKES MAKING NOISES?

There are a few potential reasons your brakes might make unusual noises during operation. A grinding sound when you press the brake is generally due to a wearing down of the brake pads or rotors, and they may need to be replaced. Rattling sounds or mild squeaking can be due to an expansion of the brake pads, and are usually not cause for concern. More consistent squeaking or squealing could signal that your brakes are in need of repair or replacement.

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BOOK A LOGBOOK SERVICE?

As a general rule, you should book a logbook service every 10,000km or every six months, whichever comes first. This can vary however, so check your owner’s manual to see how often your manufacturer recommends a logbook service.

  • HOW CAN I TELL IF MY POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT?

If your power steering is failing, you will know immediately. Your vehicle will become very hard to steer. You can drive a car without power steering, but it may further damage your steering system.

  • WHAT SHOULD I HAVE INSPECTED BEFORE BUYING A CAR?

Before you purchase any used car, you’ll want to have all major components inspected by trained mechanics. This would include the engine, transmission, steering/suspension, electrical and brakes.
